چکیده

Background: Despite the multitude of studies on non union no clear criterion has been established for declaring a fracture as united. A diagnosis is unjustified, however, until clinical or radiographic evidence shows that healing ceased and highly improbable. shaft long bone should not be considered at least 6 months after injury. The incidence in varies with each methods treating acute fractures. More recently, tibia probably most frequent site union. Nonunion following intramedullary fixation tibial fractures challenge. Although reamed exchange nailing results are encouraging rates, could extremely challenging due to situations when nail removal difficult. Augmentation plates gained popularity management femoral nonunion few reports nonunion. aim current study present our augmentation plate nail. Patient methods: From 2017 till 2021, 20 cases nonunited fixed by IM nails was included. without removing addition autogenous iliac graft. Effectiveness of plate augmentation for femoral shaft nonunion after nailing.

BACKGROUND Treatment options for nonunion of the femoral shaft fracture after intramedullary nail fixation are controversial. The methods of exchanging an existing nail with a larger-sized nail, dynamization, removal of the nail followed by plating, and bone grafting have all been reported. From those options, exchange nailing seems to be the most popular choice. In our study, we used plate aug...

Intramedullary Nailing of Open Tibial Fractures: Provisional Plate Fixation.

Tibia fracture is the most common type of long bone fracture, and intramedullary nailing is the preferred treatment. In open fractures, a provisional plate is often used to maintain reduction. It is unknown whether this practice increases the risk of infection or other complications. This study retrospectively compared patients who were treated at a level 1 trauma center with intramedullary nai...

The Role of Biplanar Distal Locking in Intramedullary Nailing of Tibial Shaft Fractures

Background: To compare the union times of the uncomplicated tibial shaft fractures, which were distally locked by twocoronal and one sagittal screws and by only two coronal screws. Methods: 45 patients with tibial shaft treated with intramedullary nailing included in this study. 23 of 45 fractureswere treated with uniplanar two distal interlocking (Group 1) and 22 fractures were treated with bip...

Dropped hallux after the intramedullary nailing of tibial fractures.

We made a prospective study of 208 patients with tibial fractures treated by reamed intramedullary nailing. Of these, 11 (5.3%) developed dysfunction of the peroneal nerve with no evidence of a compartment syndrome. The patients with this complication were significantly younger (mean age 25.6 years) and most had closed fractures of the forced-varus type with relatively minor soft-tissue damage....

Locked intramedullary nailing of open tibial fractures.

We report the use of Grosse-Kempf reamed intramedullary nailing in the treatment of 41 Gustilo type II and III open tibial fractures. The union times and infection rates were similar to those previously reported for similar fractures treated by external skeletal fixation, but the incidence of malunion was less and fewer required bone grafting. The role of exchange nailing is discussed and a tre...
